|
The
Crusaders
focus on getting younger high school players
early exposure and continued development
throughout the summer. The Crusaders will now
bridge the gape between the U15 Virus and NoVa
West’s High School Elite Flamingos program.
|
|
The
Flamingos are NoVa West's elite High
School recruiting team that will compete in the
finest tournaments throughout the summer and
fall with the intent of getting these players
maximum exposure in recruiting tournaments with
the opportunity to compete to make team
Outbreak. Tryouts for the Flamingos are by
invitation only! NoVa West will nominate
players from the Crusaders tryout to participate
in a tryout for the Flamingos.
|
|
The
Outbreak will continue to be the premier
recruiting team in the Washington DC
Metropolitan area. In 2010 six
to eight players from the Flamingos will be
elevated to the Outbreak squad along with six to
eight players from SMS Lacrosse. The remainder
of the Outbreak roster will come from a
nationwide tryout. The Outbreak squad is a pure

Why Select a NoVa West Summer team?
At NoVa West we
realize that lacrosse players have choices as to where they
play during the off-season. We want to make sure that all
players are happy with their decisions and we want the game
of lacrosse to grow in the Northern Virginia area, making us
a hotbed of lacrosse in the eyes of the nationwide lacrosse
community. As you begin to narrow down your selection for
the summer take the following into consideration.
Competition - A critical factor in selecting your
off-season lacrosse program is the level competition. At
NoVa West Lacrosse we put our teams in the most competitive
tournaments over the summer. We firmly believe that if
players play at a higher level of competition they will be
pushed to be better players. Regardless of the age group our
teams will play in the most competitive tournaments.
Coaching - Another very important element is
coaching. Other programs have coaches who are not qualified
to coach at this level, have never played the game, or are
fathers of players in the program. At NoVa West each team
will be coached by a staff which will include High School
Head Coaches, Division I players or College Coaches. We
respect the fact that parents volunteer to help coach their
children’s teams, however this is a political issue that we
would rather not deal with. Our parents are encouraged to
be fans of their children and appreciate the superior
coaching they will receive from our staff. We feel very
confident that NoVa West Lacrosse offers the best coaching
available to a summer lacrosse program in Northern Virginia.
Value - As a consumer you should expect the best
value for your money. There are summer programs in the area
that charge in excess of three thousand dollars for the
summer, for a limited number of tournaments with less than
superior coaching. At NoVa West we keep our fees as low as
possible but we still provide the most competitive schedule
of tournaments for each of our grade levels and superior
coaching.
Fun - Players and their families should have fun over
the summer. We get players each year that played with other
programs in the past saying I wish I had played with NoVa
West all along. We try to play our tournament schedule so
that it offers our families the opportunity to take mini
vacations, in 2010 we will have tournaments at Hershey Park,
Bush Gardens, Ocean City and more. We want all of our
players to tell their friends that they had a blast being
part of the NoVa West Family.
Gear - During the summer players love to have fresh
gear, at NoVa West all of our teams have unique gear custom
designed by our sponsors at Lacrosse Unlimited. At the 2009
Brine Shootout our Outbreak Gear was voted the number #1
gear at the tournament. Lacrosse Unlimited is the #1
lacrosse store in the country and in 2010 they are moving
into the Northern Virginia area in at least two locations.
Facilities - NoVa West has great facilities both
outdoor and indoor. During the summer of 2010 we will have
access to multiple outdoor fields turf and grass as well as
the Purcellville Sports Pavilion indoor field. As the
exclusive lacrosse provider at the Pavilion we will have
access to the facility for our practices in case we want to
get in a late practice or need to practice during times of
inclement weather.
Recruiting - High School players who play during the
summer all have the dream of playing collegiately. At NoVa
West we take recruiting very serious and feel that it is our
responsibility to help our players through the recruiting
journey while other program charge additional fees for this
service. NoVa West has had 36 players through its system
that have graduated, 31 of those players have gone on to
play collegiately which is a fantastic percentage which we
are very proud of. Of those 31 players 29 of them have
stayed with the initial program they decided to go with
which means we try to help guide our players to programs
that meet their academic, social and lacrosse needs. At the
end of the day these are the stats that mean the most to
NoVa West lacrosse.
We hope that this
information will help you with your decision a summer
lacrosse program. Watch out for programs that have winter
tryouts for summer select teams trying to lock you into a
financial commitment when you have not had an opportunity to
check out other programs. This time of year players should
be focused on the pre-season work for their high school or
youth programs and not trying out for summer programs. Our
tryouts at NoVa West will not interfere with your High
School or Youth programs.
We wish all of you a fantastic season with your high school
or youth programs, NoVa West Coaches will be out to watch
many of you throughout your regular seasons. We hope that
you will all consider joining the NoVa West Family in 2010
for what will be a very exciting summer.
We are now accepting registrations for our early spring
tryouts
